Daily Tidbit: New Smoothie today: Carrot Creamsicle (pictured above). I thought it would be hard to get that smooth creamy texture using raw Carrots, but it wasn't at all! I like trying different fruit combinations and getting at least one Veggie in there too, but all my Smoothies have one thing in common: they are all made with Yogurt. I like the creamy texture and flavor, but the real reason I always use it is to build up my family's immune system. In fact "Eating yogurt could be the key to staying healthy during the cold and flu season" according to this article, which concurs with lots of other articles I have read over the past months...check it out:

Carrot Creamsicle Smoothie |
Plain Oatmeal with Cinnamon & Walnuts |
1/2 cup plain Oatmeal (uncooked), microwaved with
1 cup Fat Free Milk
2 tbsp chopped Plain Walnuts &
2-3 shakes of Plain Cinnamon on top
5 oz Carrot Creamsicle Smoothie (recipe below)
Regular Coffee, sprinkle Pure Ground Cinnamon, splash Fat Free Milk

1/2 cup Shell Pasta mixed with 1 cup Sweet Peas, 1/2 cup Mushrooms & 1 cup Tomato Sauce with Ground Beef
topped with 1 tbsp Parmesan Cheese

Snack: 1/3 cup lightly salted mixed Nuts (Pistachios, Pecans, Peanuts & Almonds), Water

Dessert:
1 Local Fuji Apple, Water

RECIPES:
Carrot Creamsicle Smoothie Recipe:
Into blender put:
8 Baby Carrots & a splash of OJ
Puree until smooth, then add:
1 cup Fat Free All Natural Vanilla Yogurt
1 cup Orange Juice (minus what was used with the Carrots above)
2 Bananas
Blend and serve!

Homemade Fresh Salsa Recipe:
Into Food Processor put:
1 Jalapeno (seeds and all if you want the heat!)
1 clove Garlic
Process above two items and then add:
1 pint Cherry Tomatoes
1 large handful Cilantro
Juice from 1/2 Lime
1/4 large White Onion
1/4 large Red Onion Salt, to taste
Process and stream 1 -2 tbsp EVOO in while processing.
Serve!
